The Department of Pulmonary, Critical, and Sleep Medicine at AIIMS Raipur continues to revolutionize patient care by incorporating cutting-edge diagnostic and therapeutic technologies.
Introducing CPET and FeNO Testing in OPD
AIIMS Raipur has now introduced Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET) and Exhaled Nitric Oxide (FeNO) estimation in its outpatient department (OPD). These advanced diagnostic tools strengthen the institute’s commitment to high-quality healthcare and research.
Benefits of CPET and FeNO Testing
Prof. Dr. Sajal De, Head of the Department of Pulmonary Medicine, explained the significance of these technologies.
- CPET is a specialized, non-invasive test that evaluates the combined function of the heart, lungs, and muscles during exercise. It helps diagnose unexplained exertional breathlessness, assesses exercise capacity, and guides treatment for various cardiac and pulmonary conditions.
- FeNO testing measures nitric oxide levels in exhaled breath, offering a non-invasive way to diagnose and manage asthma. It aids in optimizing medication, monitoring treatment adherence, and adjusting dosages for better patient outcomes.
Leadership and Support for Advancing Patient Care
Lt Gen Ashok Jindal (Retd), Executive Director & CEO of AIIMS Raipur, praised the department for its efforts in enhancing respiratory and cardiac patient care through state-of-the-art diagnostic technologies.
As reported by economictimes, the successful implementation of these facilities was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Prof. Dr. Sajal De, along with Dr. Ajay Behera and Dr. Dibakar Sahu, both Additional Professors in the department. Their commitment to advancing healthcare continues to bring innovative solutions to patient care.
