AOI Nagpur Introduces Advanced Gallium PET CT Services for Precision Cancer Diagnosis

The American Oncology Institute (AOI), in collaboration with Nangia Specialty Hospital, has unveiled a state-of-the-art Gallium generator, ushering in a new era of precision medicine in Central India. Starting January 2025, AOI Nagpur’s Nuclear Medicine department will offer advanced Gallium-based PET CT scans, enabling the detection of cancer at the molecular level.

As per the press release, these specialized scans are tailored to various cancer types:

  • PSMA PET CT: Focused on prostate cancer detection.
  • DOTA PET CT: Designed for identifying neuroendocrine tumors.
  • FAPI PET CT: Ideal for cancers with mucinous, serous, or signet ring cell histology, such as stomach and ovarian cancers.
  • Pentixafor PET CT: Used for diagnosing low-grade lymphoma, MALToma, and multiple myeloma.
  • Exendin PET CT: Specialized in detecting insulinoma.

Harish Trivedi, CEO of CTSI-South Asia, emphasized, “The introduction of Gallium PET CT scans underscores our dedication to leveraging cutting-edge technology for improved cancer care. This integration of precision medicine transforms diagnosis and treatment outcomes.”

Dr. Rohit Kakde, Senior Consultant in Nuclear Medicine at AOI Nagpur, highlighted the diagnostic advancements, stating, “Gallium-based PET CT scans allow us to detect cancer at its earliest stages by visualizing it at a molecular level, ensuring accurate diagnosis and precise, personalized treatment planning.”

Dr. Hrushikesh Phate, Zonal Director for Central East Region, hailed the development as a milestone for regional oncology care. “Equipped with Gallium generator technology, AOI Nagpur is now capable of delivering world-class diagnostic services on par with global standards,” he said.
