Apollo Hospitals recently opened its 18th facility in Karapakkam. A dedicated 39-bed wing for obstetrics is available at the Apollo Cradle and Children’s Hospital and Apollo Fertility Center. It has a four-bed multidisciplinary paediatric ICU with an isolation unit, foetal medicine and high-risk obstetrics facilities, and a 12-bed level-3 neonatal intensive care unit with an attached perinatal centre.

The hospital is Chennai’s second such facility. There will be a group of paediatric intensivists on hand, assisted by internal paediatric sub-specialists.

Preetha Reddy, executive vice-chairperson of Apollo Hospitals, who launched the facility, said that with 24-hour emergency services, the unit would provide for the medical needs of both women and children, including assisted conception, delivery, post-natal care, neonatal and paediatric subspecialties.
