The Apollo Prostate Institute has introduced an innovative treatment module designed to address all types of prostate cases under one roof. Whether the case is simple, complex, benign, or malignant, the institute has brought together globally approved treatment modalities in one location to provide the best possible care.
One of the treatments now available at the institute is water vapour or steam therapy, a new approach to treating the prostate. This method, which has received FDA approval, has recently been introduced in India.
Dr. T Manohar, Chief of Urology Services, Uro-oncology, Robotics, and Kidney Transplantation at Apollo Hospitals explained, “We have adopted a ‘cafeteria approach’ for treating patients with BPH. This approach empowers patients by allowing them to choose their preferred treatment method while being fully informed about the pros and cons of each option. Such informed decision-making enhances the acceptability of medical interventions and improves patient compliance with treatments”.
As reported by indiamedtoday.com, the procedure offers several benefits, including the prevention of sexual dysfunction and the preservation of the ejaculatory process. Uday Davda, VP & Unit Head of Apollo Hospitals, Seshadripuram added, “The treatment does not involve the removal of the prostate, the use of foreign bodies, or the need for significant analgesics”.
Manish Mattoo, CEO of Apollo Hospitals, Karnataka Region remarked, “This method, which adheres to international safety standards, has gained global recognition, and we are proud to introduce it to India”.
