BD and JCI Expand PRIME Safety Program to Six More Hospitals in India

Strengthening Patient and Healthcare Worker Safety Across India
BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), a global leader in medical technology, in collaboration with Joint Commission International (JCI), has expanded its flagship PRIME (Preventing Risks of Infections and Medication Errors) program in IV therapy to six more hospitals across India. These hospitals include:

  • Apollo Hospital, Greams Road, Chennai 
  • BLK-Max Super Speciality Hospital, Delhi 
  • Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, Thrissur 
  • Apollo Hospital, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad 
  • HCG Aastha Cancer Centre, Ahmedabad 
  • Apollo Hospital, Visakhapatnam 

A Benchmark Program Since 2019

As per the press release, launched in 2019, the PRIME program has now been implemented in 30 hospitals across India. Over a six-month period, each hospital engages in a comprehensive, goal-oriented approach to patient safety, including:

  • Goal setting and regular progress reviews 
  • Tele-consultations with subject-matter experts 
  • Scientific updates through webinars 

Hospitals that successfully complete the program receive the PRIME certification, representing the Gold Standard in safety practices for IV therapy.

Highlighting the significance of the program, the Principal Consultant for Medication Management and Safety at JCI stated:
