The Central Government has sent expert teams to Andhra Pradesh to assess the Avian Influenza outbreak after the disease spread across multiple districts. Over the past 45 days, approximately 5.4 lakh chickens have died due to the viral infection, prompting urgent containment measures.
Badampudi village in Eluru district reported the highest casualties, with 2.2 lakh chickens dead. Velpuru in West Godavari district recorded 2.5 lakh deaths, while Kanuru Agraharam in East Godavari district lost 65,000 birds. Additionally, Gampalagudem in NTR district reported 7,000 fatalities.
Government Implements Containment Measures
In response to the crisis, the Animal Husbandry Department has initiated culling operations and established restricted zones in affected areas. Officials have been deployed to these regions to enforce strict containment measures and prevent further spread of the virus.
Additionally, authorities have declared the affected poultry farms as bio-secure zones. Senior TDP leader Atchannaidu emphasized that officials are closely monitoring the situation, providing hourly updates on the outbreak’s progress.
No Risk in Consuming Cooked Chicken and Eggs
