Citizens Specialty Hospital hosted India’s inaugural Continuing Medical Education (CME) session on CODE E-CPR in the Emergency Department (ED). The event gathered 60 delegates and 20 expert faculties, highlighting the advancement of emergency medical care.
CODE E-CPR, or Extracorporeal Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, is a cutting-edge procedure involving emergent extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) for cardiac arrest patients unresponsive to conventional CPR.
Dr. Imron Subhan, Executive Chairman of the Society for Emergency Medicine India (SEMI), attended as Chief Guest, remarking that the CME represents a pivotal moment in India’s emergency medical landscape. He congratulated the Citizens ED team, led by Dr. Sridhar Maram, for their commitment to advancing medical knowledge and patient outcomes.
The event commenced with a ceremonial lamp lighting by Dr. Mir Raza Ali Khan, Dr. Sridhar Maram, Dr. Sudhir Koganti, Dr. Gopal, Dr. Amarendra Singh, Dr. Santosh Kumar Paiaulla, Dr. Lakshmi Sasidhar Puvvula, and Dr. Bharath Kumar Pamulapati, symbolizing the enlightenment of emergency medicine.
Dr. Subhan highlighted the revolutionary potential of incorporating E-CPR into emergency protocols to save lives. Dr. Sridhar Maram emphasized that this CME is the first in India focusing on ECMO CPR in the ED, covering patient selection criteria and protocol initiation to aid ER physicians in resuscitating cardiac arrest patients.
