To mark Cancer Survivor Month, Dharamshila Narayana Superspeciality Hospital unveiled an advanced 3D mammography system on Thursday. This cutting-edge equipment offers more accurate and efficient breast cancer screenings with minimal radiation exposure, enabling early detection of abnormalities. The technology aims to make cancer screening accessible across all economic backgrounds, helping reduce late-stage breast cancer diagnoses.
Free Women’s Cancer Screening Programme Announced
In addition to the equipment launch, the Dharamshila Narayana Hospital introduced a comprehensive free women’s health cancer screening programme. The initiative includes 5,000 free pap smear tests and 5,000 free mammography screenings, along with clinical breast examinations, cervical cancer screening, and lifestyle counselling. The hospital especially targets these services at underprivileged women and Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries.
Chief Minister Highlights Importance of Early Diagnosis
As reported by TOI, Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who attended the inauguration as chief guest, praised the initiative. “This unit is specially designed for early detection of breast cancer in women, enabling timely treatment,” she said. “Equipped with fully digital technology, it ensures quick and accurate diagnosis using the latest medical equipment.” She also noted that while cancer often brings emotional turmoil to families, modern advancements now make early detection and effective treatment possible.
Mobile Diagnostic Unit to Serve Underserved Communities
Dr Emmanuel Rupert, Managing Director and Group CEO of Narayana Health, emphasized the broader impact of the initiative. He announced the launch of a mobile diagnostic unit that will deliver mammograms and laboratory tests to underserved areas in Delhi. This mobile unit aims to bridge the gap in healthcare access and ensure that more women benefit from early cancer detection services.
