Bengaluru-based Forus Health is tackling critical eye care challenges with innovative devices designed for early diagnosis in resource-limited settings. Founded by K Chandrasekhar (KC) and Venkatakrishnan S (Venkat), the company has developed advanced retinal imaging systems tailored for Indian eyes, which typically require dilation for accurate imaging due to smaller pupil sizes.

As reported by economictimes, their flagship device addresses conditions like diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and macular degeneration—leading causes of blindness. With 3,800 installations across 73 countries, Forus has impacted 16 million lives, helping prevent blindness in approximately 3 million cases.

“Our technology bypasses the need for dilation, making mass screenings practical and accessible,” said KC. The company boasts 7 granted patents and is integrating AI to analyze eye images for predicting cardiovascular, neurological, and nephrological risks.

As Forus ventures into predictive diagnostics for conditions like Alzheimer’s, dementia, and strokes, KC highlights its transformative potential: “Non-invasive predictions through eye imaging could redefine healthcare.”

With sustained revenue growth of 30% annually and profitability in recent years, Forus is a leader in merging innovation and accessibility in eye health diagnostics.
