Bengaluru residents in Konankunte and Kanakapura Road now have access to ultra-fast drone delivery for medicines, groceries, and electronics. Launched on March 27 by Skye Air, this service follows a successful rollout in Gurugram and aims to collaborate with local businesses, e-commerce platforms, and quick commerce brands.

Efficient and Traffic-Free Delivery

The drones operate in a three-dimensional air corridor, called the Skye Tunnel, at 120 metres above ground level (AGL). This allows them to bypass traffic congestion, ensuring swift and seamless deliveries. Each drone can carry up to 10kg per trip, making it ideal for a variety of essential goods.

Quick and Safe Package Drop-Off

As reported by TOI, upon arrival at the delivery location, the drone descends to 20 metres and deploys the Skye Winch system to lower the package to the designated drop zone. Once the package is released, the drone automatically returns to its starting point. The entire process takes less than seven minutes.

Advanced Safety and Connectivity Features

To enhance safety, each drone comes equipped with an onboard parachute system. It also features real-time 5G connectivity for navigation, tracking, and communication. Additionally, the system gathers crucial flight data, including environmental conditions and performance metrics, to optimize future operations.

Expansion and Partnerships

Currently, Skye Air is offering this service free of charge and is working to expand its reach to more service providers. Key partners include Shiprocket, DTDC, Blue Dart, and Ecom Express. This initiative will make drone-based delivery a game-changer for last-mile logistics in Bengaluru.
