Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel announced the establishment of 51 ‘Yoga Studios’ across the state to promote yoga, emphasizing its significant benefits during the COVID-19 pandemic. This announcement was made during a state-level event at Nadabet in Banaskantha district near the India-Pakistan border to celebrate the 10th International Day of Yoga.
Several state ministers and Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary attended the event, marking the first time Yoga Day has been celebrated at Nadabet. In his address, CM Patel highlighted that yoga, a system of exercises for body and breath control, has reached global prominence.
The event was jointly organized by the State Yog Board and the Border Security Force (BSF). Patel stated that the Gujarat government is committed to making yoga accessible statewide through the State Yog Board’s initiatives.
“This year, we plan to establish 51 state-run Yoga Studios to provide a one-stop health solution for the people. The Gujarat government is dedicated to bringing yoga to every corner of the state,” Patel announced.
As reported by The Print, Patel remarked on the transformative impact of yoga during the pandemic, citing its role in enhancing immunity and respiratory health. “During lockdowns, people maintained their health by performing yogic asanas, which helped boost immunity and strengthen lungs,” he said.
