Manipur’s Shija Hospital and Research Institute is set to invest ₹700 crore to establish a super-speciality hospital in Tripura, Chief Minister Manik Saha announced on Sunday at a blood donation camp in Agartala. A site for the project has already been identified, with the proposal awaiting cabinet approval to proceed.
The initiative is part of Tripura’s broader push to enhance healthcare infrastructure. CM Saha highlighted recent successes, such as kidney transplants at Agartala Medical College, and plans to introduce liver and bone marrow transplant services in the state. Discussions are underway with leading medical experts to bring these advanced treatments to Tripura.
Saha also noted the positive impact of insurance schemes like CM-Jan Aarogya Yojana and ongoing efforts to attract Tripura-born doctors working elsewhere back to the state. In collaboration with NITI Aayog, a health awareness program is set to launch in 125 schools, with plans to expand statewide.
As reported by medicaldialogues, this investment from Shija Hospital aligns with the state’s vision of providing world-class healthcare while boosting local medical capabilities and community health programs.
