ICMR Invites Senior Scientists for Pioneering Research in Emeritus Scientist Programme

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) issued a call for applications for the esteemed ICMR Emeritus Scientist (ES) Programme. Spearheaded by the Secretary of the Department of Health Research (DHR) and Director General (DG) of ICMR, this program invites applications from senior retired medical scientists, researchers, and medical educators who have either recently retired or are scheduled to retire within the next three months.

The initiative provides a valuable platform for experienced scientists to contribute to critical biomedical research and address national health priorities.

Eligible applicants must be affiliated with UGC-recognized research institutes, NMC-recognized medical colleges, or other R&D institutions of national importance in India. Candidates should have a background in medical/biomedical/life sciences with a distinguished record of accomplishments in their field. The program is particularly interested in those who are keen to continue their existing research projects to reach a logical conclusion.

Applicants should ensure that their proposed area of research aligns with the priorities of ICMR and the nation’s health objectives. The head of the host institute/organization must endorse applications, which should include a detailed research proposal.
