He stated that according to Business Standard “Heart transplants will now be simple. In critical patients, artificial hearts can be placed. This artificial heart was created by cardiologists from across the nation and IIT Kanpur. Animal trials will begin in February or March. After the study is successful, transplantation can be performed on humans in the next two years.”

“A team of 10 scientists and doctors have prepared this artificial heart,” he continued, “in order to lessen the pain of the patients. Within two years, human heart transplantation will start following the success of the animal study.”

He stated: “80 percent of the equipment and implants in India are imports. There are just 20% of the implants and equipment that are produced in India. The majority of heart patients’ implants and stents are imported.”
