India’s First 24×7 Free Pink Breast Cancer Helpline: Empowering Women for Early Detection

Recognizing the urgent need for awareness and early intervention, the Cancer Mukt Bharat campaign has launched India’s first 24×7 free Pink Breast Cancer Helpline. This initiative aims to encourage women to take the first step toward early detection and treatment of breast cancer.

Women across India can now access expert guidance for early detection tests, preventive advice, and support through the helpline at 9599687085. The service provides consultations via phone or video calls, along with self-examination guidance from cancer experts, entirely free of charge.

In addition, the helpline offers mammography, a critical diagnostic test for breast cancer, at discounted rates of up to 50% across the country. Dr. Ashish Gupta, a senior oncologist spearheading the Cancer Mukt Bharat campaign, emphasized the initiative’s goal to promote early diagnosis, particularly at stages 1 and 2, where the chances of successful treatment are significantly higher.

“Breast cancer is a leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women in India. Many lives are lost each year due to late detection, often a result of limited awareness, stigma, and restricted access to healthcare,” Dr. Gupta explained.

Statistical trends highlight that while breast cancer risk peaks between the ages of 50 and 64, 25% of cases are now seen in women under 40—a concerning rise. However, over 90% of cases diagnosed at early stages can be successfully treated, underscoring the importance of initiatives like this helpline.

As reported by economictimes, through this service, women can receive accurate information, expert counseling, and discounted breast cancer screening tests. “Detecting breast cancer early is key to increasing cure rates and reducing breast cancer-related deaths in the country,” Dr. Gupta stated.

In 2023, India reported an estimated 200,000 new breast cancer cases. By offering comprehensive support and reducing barriers to diagnosis, this helpline aims to empower women, dismantle stigma, and improve survival rates.

Dr. Gupta concluded, “Early detection through regular self-examinations, clinical screenings, preventive guidance, and mammograms can dramatically enhance survival rates. Treatment is most effective when breast cancer is caught in its initial stages.”
