JNIMS to get a cancer hospital

Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Science (JNIMS), Manipur is set to get a new cancer treatment hospital, according to chief minister N Biren Singh.

He further informed that that the proposed cancer hospital would be set up under the PPP (public-private partnership) model. Singh also added that the state government has taken up various welfare initiatives which primarily focuses on the health and education sector for the wellbeing and welfare of the people.

Speaking about the “Health for All” scheme, which was introduced recently, he stated that doctors, nurses and health care workers are providing doorstep health check-ups and medicine delivery to different sections of society of the state.

Singh also said that the state government was continuously persuading the Centre for the upgradation of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) to a level similar to that of the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

On the occasion, the chief minister also inaugurated a PSA Oxygen Plant and CT-Scan machine at JNIMS and State Bank of India, JNIMS Branch. Singh and other dignitaries also handed over meritorious awards to toppers of JNIMS.
