Kokilaben Hospital’s Endometriosis Clinic Earns European Certification

Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital (KDAH), Mumbai, has achieved a prestigious certification from the European Endometriosis League (EEL) through the EuroEndoCert program for its specialized endometriosis clinic. This recognition underscores the hospital’s commitment to providing comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for women with endometriosis—a condition affecting 10-15% of women globally but often underdiagnosed, particularly in India.

Traditionally, endometriosis care in India has been fragmented, focusing mainly on surgery and symptom management. KDAH’s clinic addresses this gap by integrating specialists from gynecology, pain management, radiology, and colorectal surgery to deliver holistic treatment.

The certification validates the clinic’s adherence to the German National “Guideline for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Endometriosis,” aligning it with global best practices. Regular Continuing Medical Education (CME) sessions and interdisciplinary discussions help the clinic remain updated with the latest treatment protocols, ensuring advanced care for patients.

Dr. Anshumala Shukla-Kulkarni, Head of Minimally Invasive Gynecology and Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery at KDAH, emphasized the importance of their work: “Endometriosis is a complex, chronic condition that often goes undiagnosed, leading to incomplete treatments and unnecessary suffering. We aim to raise awareness and improve care standards.”

Endometriosis is closely linked to infertility, as it can damage reproductive organs, making conception difficult. The clinic is actively conducting research, publishing patient outcomes, and comparing surgical treatments to enhance care quality. It also prioritizes raising awareness about symptoms like chronic pain and promoting early diagnosis to improve patient outcomes.

As reported by economictimes, this certification marks a significant step in standardizing endometriosis care in India, offering hope to countless women dealing with the often-overlooked condition.
