M K Stalin Virtually Inaugurates 500 UHWCs Across Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin virtually inaugurated 500 Urban Health and Wellness Centres (UHWCs) across the state. In his address, Stalin emphasized the importance of education and healthcare in the Dravidian model of governance.

The UHWCs will serve as ancillary units of Urban Primary Health Centres and are located in areas under civic bodies such as corporations and municipalities, including Greater Chennai Corporation. Cities like Madurai, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, and Vellore will benefit from these services. Each UHWC was established at a cost of Rs 25 lakh, with a total initiative cost of Rs 125 crore for setting up all 500 facilities.

Every UHWC will have a doctor, nurse, health inspector, and sanitary worker on duty from 8 AM to noon and 4 PM to 8 PM, providing healthcare services to approximately 25,000 people in each area. A total of 500 doctors, nurses, health inspectors, and sanitary workers have been appointed. The UHWCs will offer a wide range of services, including maternity care and yoga. Health Minister Ma Subramanian, Youth Welfare Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, and other officials also participated in the event.
