The Maharashtra Public Health Department reported 84 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, pushing the total number of cases recorded since January 1, 2025, to 681.
Majority of Cases Show Mild Symptoms
According to the department’s release, most of the newly diagnosed patients exhibit only mild symptoms. Officials urged the public not to panic, emphasizing that the situation remains under control.
Mumbai Records Highest Daily Count
Mumbai reported the highest number of new cases with 32 infections. Other affected areas include:
- Thane district: 2 cases
- Thane Municipal Corporation: 14 cases
- Navi Mumbai: 1 case
- Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation: 1 case
- Raigad district: 2 cases
- Panvel: 1 case
- Nashik city: 1 case
- Pune district: 1 case
- Pune Municipal Corporation: 19 cases
- Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation: 3 cases
- Satara: 2 cases
- Kolhapur district: 1 case
- Kolhapur Municipal Corporation: 1 case
- Sangli Municipal Corporation: 3 cases
Active Cases and Testing Status
Currently, Maharashtra has 467 active COVID-19 cases. Mumbai alone has recorded 411 cases since the beginning of the year. So far, the state has conducted 10,324 COVID-19 tests, out of which 681 returned positive results.
Seven Deaths Reported Since January
Since January 1, seven COVID-19-related deaths have been reported. Of these, six patients had co-morbidities, while one had other underlying health conditions.
Health Infrastructure in Place
As reported by the week, the state government reassured citizens that adequate testing and treatment facilities are available across Maharashtra. The health department reiterated that all reported cases so far are of mild nature and advised people to stay alert but not panic.
