Max Healthcare to Invest ₹6,000 Crore by 2028 in Major Expansion Drive

Max Healthcare Institute Ltd plans to invest ₹6,000 crore by 2028 to add 3,700 new hospital beds across India, announced Chairman and Managing Director Abhay Soi on Tuesday. The expansion will significantly grow the company’s presence from 22 hospitals with 5,000 beds to around 30 hospitals nationwide.

Four New Hospitals in 2025, Starting with Dwarka

Speaking at the inauguration of the new Max Super Speciality Hospital in Dwarka, a 300-bed greenfield facility, Soi highlighted that four new hospitals will open this year.

“This Dwarka facility is the first of the four we’re launching in 2025,” he said. The other three hospitals will open later this year in Mohali, Mumbai, and Saket (New Delhi).

Reinvestment Strategy to Power Growth

Soi emphasized that Max Healthcare will fund the ₹6,000 crore expansion internally.

“We’re reinvesting everything we generate over the next 10 years to build new healthcare infrastructure,” he explained. This reinvestment will support both the expansion of existing hospitals and the establishment of new facilities.

Opportunities for Acquisitions Not Ruled Out

While the current ₹6,000 crore investment is earmarked for organic growth, Soi confirmed the company remains open to strategic acquisitions.

“We are opportunistic about acquisitions,” he said. “Whenever we come across a good opportunity, we will consider it.” He also clarified that any acquisition-related budget would be in addition to the funds committed for organic expansion.
