Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda launched a new initiative on Friday aimed at strengthening the medical device industry and giving it a significant boost.
The comprehensive scheme addresses crucial aspects of the medical device sector, including the manufacturing of key components and accessories, skill development, support for clinical studies, the development of shared infrastructure, and industry promotion.
During the launch, Nadda highlighted that the scheme would be a transformative step for the industry and a major stride toward making India self-reliant. He emphasized that the government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, is action-oriented, with the PLI scheme opening up new opportunities for growth.
As reported by MSN, Nadda noted that this is just the beginning and urged the industry to take full advantage of the scheme while assuring continued government support for its success.
Union Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel added that the scheme would boost the entire medical device sector. “Medical devices have become a crucial component of the healthcare industry, recognized for their growing demand in everyday life. The government is committed to shaping policies and providing structured support to advance this industry,” she said.
