Recognizing Outstanding Contributions to Ayurveda

The Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, honored three distinguished practitioners with the prestigious National Dhanwantari Ayurveda Awards 2025 for their exceptional contributions to traditional Indian medicine.

Union Minister of State (IC) for Ayush and Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, presented the awards at a grand ceremony in Mumbai on February 20, 2025.

Meet the Award Recipients

This year’s honorees include:

  • Vaidya Tara Chand Sharma – A celebrated Nadi Vaidya and author whose insightful publications have enriched Ayurveda education.
  • Vaidya Maya Ram Uniyal – A veteran scholar in Dravyaguna Vigyana with over six decades of dedication to Ayurveda research and administration.
  • Vaidya Sameer Govind Jamadagni – Founder of the Vishwa Vyakhyanmala national conference, who has significantly advanced Ayurveda education and global discourse.

Each recipient received a citation, a trophy featuring the statue of Lord Dhanwantari, and a cash prize of ₹5 lakh. These awards reinforce India’s commitment to promoting holistic healthcare while preserving traditional medical knowledge.

Recognizing Ayurveda’s Global Impact

During the ceremony, Shri Prataprao Jadhav congratulated the recipients, stating, “The National Dhanwantari Ayurveda Awards highlight India’s immense contribution to global healthcare. These visionaries have demonstrated remarkable dedication in promoting Ayurveda worldwide, perfectly aligning with our mission to integrate traditional wisdom with modern healthcare.”

Adding to this, Ayush Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha noted, “Through decades of research and innovation, these practitioners have modernized Ayurveda while maintaining its authentic essence. Their work exemplifies how traditional knowledge can be adapted to address contemporary health challenges.”
