Prime Minister Modi Addresses Post-Budget Webinar on Employment

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a Post-Budget Webinar on employment, themed “Investing in People, Economy, and Innovation.” The event saw participation from 29 ministries, 100 panelists, and over 25,000 attendees, who discussed 43 articles from the Union Budget 2025-26.

Investment in People: A Key Priority

Prime Minister Modi emphasized that investing in people is crucial for India’s progress. He highlighted three key pillars—Education, Skill, and Healthcare—and urged stakeholders to increase investment in these sectors. He also announced the addition of 10,000 new medical seats this year, with a target of 75,000 over the next five years.

Healthcare Developments and Medical Tourism

As reported by pib.gov.in, the Prime Minister outlined significant advancements in healthcare, including expanding telemedicine facilities to all Primary Health Centres and establishing Day Care Cancer Centres (DCCCs) to enhance access to cancer treatment. He encouraged stakeholders to capitalize on initiatives like “Heal in India” to position the country as a global health tourism hub.

Strengthening Cancer Care Infrastructure

Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda reinforced the government’s commitment to holistic healthcare. He announced the establishment of DCCCs in all district hospitals within three years, with 200 set up this year. The Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs will facilitate voluntary screenings for oral, breast, and cervical cancers.

Expanding Medical Education and Training

Dr. V.K. Paul from NITI Aayog highlighted the surge in medical colleges from 387 to 780 since 2014. The government is focusing on faculty development, AI integration in medical education, and competency-based learning. The goal is to strengthen India’s medical education framework while ensuring accessibility and affordability.

Collaboration and Implementation

Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava stressed the need for central and state government collaboration to decentralize cancer treatment. Experts in breakout sessions discussed challenges in training, chemotherapy standardization, and supply chain management, urging immediate action to implement these initiatives effectively.
