Robotics Meets Medicine: AIG Hospitals Launches PillBotT

AIG Hospitals introduced PillBotT, a robotic, remote-controlled endoscopy capsule developed by U.S.-based innovator Endiatx. Currently under clinical trials, the PillBotT has yet to receive FDA approval, and its use in India is limited to research purposes.

As reported by newindianexpress, the capsule, measuring just 13mm by 30mm, aims to revolutionize non-invasive diagnostics. Equipped with advanced cameras, sensors, and wireless technology, it can navigate the gastrointestinal tract and transmit high-resolution, real-time images to physicians.

Commenting on its potential, Dr. D. Nageshwar Reddy, chairman of AIG Hospitals, said, “The PillBot’s ability to deliver high-resolution insights without invasive procedures is a breakthrough in patient care. By merging robotics and AI, we are advancing towards more accurate, efficient, and patient-friendly diagnostic solutions that could transform GI care in India, making it both life-saving and cost-effective.”
