Soukya Invests ₹220 Crore to Launch First International Wellness Facility in Portugal

Soukya, an integrative medical center, has committed ₹220 crore to establish its first international facility in Portugal. The new center, which will span 150 acres, will feature 40 villas and suites, according to Dr. Isaac Mathai, Founder Chairman and Medical Director of Soukya International Holistic Health Centre.

As reported by thehindubusinessline, the decision to set up the facility in Portugal followed an extensive evaluation process. Dr. Mathai explained that the location was chosen after considering various factors over the past five years, including cost of living, operating conditions, and staff transfer feasibility. He added that ₹220 crore for the project would be borrowed due to low interest rates in Portugal, with 25-30% of the funding coming from Soukya itself. The center also qualifies for EU funding aimed at eco-friendly projects.

Portugal’s growing reputation as a wellness destination, especially for the aging population from the US and Europe, presents a significant opportunity for Soukya. Dr. Mathai emphasized that the facility will cater to this demand, with potential plans for further expansion as needed.
