SPARSH Group Unveils 300-Bed Quaternary Care Hospital in Bengaluru

Bengaluru took a significant leap toward becoming a premier healthcare destination with the inauguration of SPARSH Group of Hospitals’ new 300-bed quaternary care facility on Hennur Road. The launch event drew several senior ministers, healthcare leaders, and community dignitaries.

Inauguration by Health Minister and Eminent Leaders

Dinesh Gundu Rao, Karnataka’s Minister of Health and Family Welfare, officially inaugurated the hospital. Distinguished guests included Jagadguru Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswami of Suttur Math, Ministers SS Mallikarjun and Dr Shamanur Shivashankarappa, former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Justice Shivaraj V Patil, and MLAs BA Basavaraja and Shamanur Shivashankarappa.

Bengaluru Rising as Global Healthcare Hub

Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil, Minister for Medical Education, highlighted Bengaluru’s growing role in global healthcare. “The world is looking at India—and especially Karnataka—as a top destination for medical care. Our doctors are globally respected for their expertise and ethics,” he said. He credited Bengaluru’s tech ecosystem and the emergence of advanced facilities like SPARSH Hennur for creating the ideal environment for medical innovation and international patient care.

He also noted that Karnataka now offers the highest number of medical seats in India, surpassing Tamil Nadu, and is investing heavily in super-speciality hospitals and cancer centres across the state.

Need for Quality Infrastructure and Investments

During his address, Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao stressed the importance of expanding healthcare infrastructure. “Karnataka must focus not just on building more hospitals, but on delivering advanced, patient-centric care. We are now seeing super-speciality services emerge in government hospitals, which is a major achievement,” he remarked.

He further emphasized the growing role of technology in healthcare. “Robotics, AI, and next-generation equipment are no longer limited to private hospitals or metro cities. As these innovations become more accessible and affordable, they will transform public healthcare. We must support and accelerate this progress,” he added.

Personal Mission Fuels New Hospital Vision

Dr Sharan Shivaraj Patil, Chairman of SPARSH Group, shared the personal story behind the Hennur facility. “Hennur is a rapidly growing area but lacked high-end medical services. My experience caring for my father during his cancer battle in the COVID-19 pandemic showed me the gaps in our system. This hospital is a result of that journey—our first dedicated step into cancer care,” he said.

SPARSH Hennur is expected to generate over 2,500 direct and indirect jobs. Moreover, the hospital will contribute significantly to academic medicine and clinical research in the region. Looking ahead, the SPARSH Group aims to expand to nine hospitals with over 1,700 beds by the end of 2025.
