A scientific study has unveiled the significant benefits of the Ayurvedic Whole System (AWS) in managing Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), a chronic autoimmune condition that affects millions globally.
The research indicates that AWS not only helps in reducing the symptoms of RA but also promotes a metabolic shift towards normalization in patients, presenting a promising complementary approach to traditional treatments.
The study was carried out by a team of senior researchers from several esteemed institutions, including the Arthritis Treatment and Advanced Research Center (A-ATARC), Department of Kaya Chikitsa at State Ayurvedic College and Hospital, Lucknow University; Centre of Biomedical Research (CBMR), SGPGIMS Campus, Lucknow; and the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), Ghaziabad.
The research reveals significant improvements in key clinical parameters among RA patients who received AWS intervention. Patients experienced a marked reduction in the Disease Activity Score-28 Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (DAS-28 ESR), along with a decrease in the number of swollen and tender joints. Additionally, the Ama Activity Measure (AAM) Score, which evaluates the presence of toxins in the body, showed a considerable reduction following the intervention.
Despite these encouraging results, the authors of the study stress the importance of further research to validate these initial findings and to gain a deeper understanding of the mechanisms by which AWS achieves its therapeutic effects.
As reported by biospectrumindia.com, the breakthrough highlights the potential for integrating traditional Ayurvedic practices with modern medical treatments to enhance patient outcomes in chronic conditions like rheumatoid arthritis.
