Tata Group Partners with IISc to Establish Tata IISc Medical School in Bengaluru

The Tata Group has joined hands with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) to set up the Tata IISc Medical School on the IISc Bengaluru campus. The initiative is backed by a ₹500 crore investment from the Tata Group.

The medical school will offer specialisations in areas such as oncology, cardiology, neurology, nephrology, diabetes and metabolic disorders, infectious diseases, integrative medicine, and public health. It will also introduce integrated MD-PhD and dual degree programs designed to train physician-scientists and medical technologists.

Highlighting the vision behind this collaboration, Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran stated, “The Tata IISc Medical School will focus on research and global collaboration to develop physician-scientists in modern medicine.”

The institution aims to create a model for clinical research and medical training that can be replicated across India. Through partnerships with international medical schools, students will gain global exposure and expertise.

Established in 1868 by Jamsetji Tata, the Tata Group is a global enterprise headquartered in India. It comprises 30 companies operating in over 100 countries across six continents, spanning ten industry verticals.
