A national programme aimed at the Prevention and Control of Beta Thalassemia and other Hemoglobinopathies has been launched thanks to a collaboration between ECHO India and the Post Graduate Institute of Child Health (PGICH) Noida. ECHO India is a nonprofit organisation dedicated to improving healthcare capacity in India.

The two-day thorough Training of Trainers (ToT) that served as the programme’s launchpad will be used to implement the course as part of a larger, cross-country collaborative effort.

The Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP) has joined ECHO India as an academic partner, and NHM Madhya Pradesh, Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC), and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will serve as knowledge partners for this programme.

The National Hub for the ECHO India programme will be located at PGICH, a renowned paediatric facility created by the government of Uttar Pradesh. This programme intends to give healthcare professionals in the entire nation the abilities they need to prevent and treat Beta Thalassemia and other hemoglobinopathies, especially in rural and underserved areas.
