The most recent fascination of celebrities and influencers is the use of a type 2 diabetes drug that is manufactured by Novo Nordisk, which is is being used for weight loss as a trend. Elon Musk has acknowledged using this drug, along with fasting for the sake of his fit body.
There are two drugs mass-produced by Novo Nordisk –– Ozempic and Wegovy –– both of which are prescribed to patients who are overweight or suffering from obesity, and are simultaneously suffering from type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol as a precondition.
In India, though the Drug Controller General of India approved using oral semaglutides to treat type 2 diabetes back in 2020 itself, the first ever oral semaglutide (manufactured by Novo Nordisk) was only launched recently in January 2022.
