World Ayurveda Congress 2024 to Focus on Digital Health in Dehradun

The 10th edition of the World Ayurveda Congress (WAC 2024) and Arogya Expo is set to commence on 12th December in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, highlighting Ayurveda’s role in the modern digital health landscape. The four-day global event, themed “Digital Health, An Ayurveda Perspective,” aims to explore the integration of cutting-edge technologies like AI, AR, and blockchain with Ayurveda to enhance healthcare delivery and research.

Organized by the World Ayurveda Foundation (WAF), a Vijnana Bharati initiative, in collaboration with the Ministry of AYUSH and various state governments, WAC 2024 is the largest international gathering of Ayurvedic experts, researchers, educators, and policymakers.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed pride in hosting the event, emphasizing the state’s historical significance as a center of Ayurveda and Yoga. Describing Uttarakhand as “Pragya Bhoomi,” he noted its abundant medicinal plant resources and conducive environment for Ayurvedic research.

Dr. Shekhar Mande, President of Vijnana Bharati, highlighted the potential of digital health platforms in addressing diverse healthcare needs across pediatrics, geriatrics, and global health crises. He emphasized that WAC 2024 will deliver actionable outcomes to integrate technology with Ayurveda across its many verticals.

As per the press release, the event has drawn over 5,500 participants from India and 350 international delegates from 54 countries. With more than 150 scientific sessions and 13 associated events, including a Health Ministers’ Conclave, Guru-Shishya Meet, Conclave on Medicinal Plants, and satellite seminars, WAC 2024 will deliberate on Ayurveda’s potential to address global health challenges.

The Arogya Expo, a major highlight, will feature over 350 stalls from leading Ayurvedic institutions, showcasing products and services to an anticipated 150,000 visitors.

Prominent attendees include Union Minister of State for AYUSH Shri Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav, AYUSH Secretary Shri Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, and other notable figures from the Ayurveda and wellness sectors.

WAC 2024 will build on the success of previous editions, with its focus on Ayurveda’s globalization, mainstreaming, and integration into public health systems. The previous edition was held in Panaji, Goa, in 2022.
