In a groundbreaking move, Yashoda Hospitals, Secunderabad, has launched the country’s most advanced Center of Excellence for Robotic Neurosurgery and Neuro Endoscopy, marking a historic first in India’s neurosurgical landscape. The launch coincided with the inaugural ceremony of the “Skull Base Endoscopy” — 2-Day International Summit & Live Workshop 2025, attended by Dr. Christina Z. Chongthu, IAS, Health Secretary of Telangana State.
Transforming Brain Tumor Treatment Through Technology
During the inauguration, Dr. Christina Z. Chongthu emphasized the center’s critical role in managing complex neurological conditions.
“This will be India’s first dedicated Neuro-Endoscopic Center of Excellence,” she said. “It will act as a referral hub for brain tumor patients and others requiring endoscopic or endoscope-assisted surgeries. The minimally invasive nature of endoscopy provides enhanced visualization, complete disease removal, and faster recovery — all of which are transforming neurosurgical care.”
A Landmark Summit for Indian Neurosurgery
Dr. Ayyadurai R., Senior Neurosurgeon and Convenor of the summit, described the workshop as a pioneering event.
“This is the first summit in India focused entirely on endoscopic skull base neurosurgery,” he stated. “We’re offering deep insights into skull base anatomy through 3D sessions and live demonstrations on fresh frozen cadavers. Experts from India and abroad will showcase complex endoscopic approaches to brain tumors, skull base lesions, cyst fenestration, hematoma evacuation, and minimally invasive hydrocephalus treatments.”
Introducing the Transorbital Approach — A First in India
Dr. Pavan Gorukanti, Director of Yashoda Hospitals, highlighted a major milestone.
“For the first time in India, we’re demonstrating the endoscopic transorbital approach, an innovative method to access skull base diseases via an unexplored route. This summit will also host disease-focused talks and panel discussions by top neurosurgeons, helping clarify the strategy behind treating such complex conditions.”
India’s Most Advanced Robotic Neurosurgery Center Unveiled
Dr. Gorukanti further announced the official launch of Yashoda Hospitals’ Center for Robotic Neurosurgery and Neuro Endoscopy, which is set to revolutionize how complex brain tumors are treated.
“This center is designed to manage deep-seated brain tumors, perform robotic-assisted endoscopy, conduct epilepsy surgeries, RF ablations through pinholes, endoport surgeries, cyst fenestrations, and hematoma evacuations,” he explained.
Precision, Safety, and Global Training
Dr. Ayyadurai R. highlighted the role of robotic technology in enhancing neurosurgical outcomes.
“Robotic systems in neurosurgery are rare and delicate but extremely effective,” he said. “Our center will house the third neurosurgery-specific robot in India, and the first in the Telugu states. This platform provides unmatched precision for accessing the brain’s deepest structures.”
As per the Yashoda Hospitals press release, the center will also function as a certified training hub for neurosurgeons across India and abroad, while welcoming international patients seeking advanced, minimally invasive brain surgery solutions.
