Nova IVF Fertility, a leading fertility treatment chain, recently hosted a comprehensive conference on advancements in Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. The event brought together 200-250 esteemed gynecologists and fertility specialists, including Padma Shri awardee Dr. Indira Hinduja and Dr. Suvarna Khadilkar, President of the Mumbai Obstetric and Gynaecological Society (MOGS).

A key focus of the conference was addressing common misconceptions about IVF, particularly the belief that it guarantees success on the first attempt. Dr. Rohit Gutgutia, Medical Director at Nova IVF Fertility, emphasized that IVF success rates depend on various factors such as the quality of sperm and eggs, a woman’s age, lifestyle, and laboratory advancements. He noted, “With ongoing technological innovations, lab improvements, and comprehensive lifestyle support, our success rates in IVF and related treatments have improved significantly. While success rates were historically 40-50%, they now reach as high as 70% in some cases across our centers. Healthy lifestyle choices, including a balanced diet, regular exercise, and stress management, also play a pivotal role in enhancing fertility outcomes.”

The conference highlighted challenges associated with repeated IVF failures, such as advanced maternal age, genetic abnormalities, uterine issues, and immunological factors. Dr. Sulbha Arora, Clinical Director at Nova IVF Fertility in Mumbai, explained, “Around 1 in 10 patients may experience repeated IVF failure, defined as no pregnancy after three or more embryo transfers. Women over 35 are particularly vulnerable due to the natural decline in egg quality and quantity. To improve implantation chances, we often recommend antioxidant supplements to enhance egg and sperm quality, advanced techniques like preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) for embryo selection, and endometrial receptivity analysis (ERA) to identify the optimal time for embryo transfer. Additional methods, such as advanced sperm selection and immunological therapies, can also boost success rates.”

The event featured insightful presentations from Nova IVF’s leading fertility experts, including Dr. Sandeep Mane, Dr. Ritu Hinduja, Dr. Sneha Sathe, Dr. Avantika Vaze, and Dr. Soumya Shetty. Dr. Sujatha Ramakrishnan, Head of Embryology at Nova IVF, delivered a session on key aspects of embryology that gynecologists should understand.
