To enhance healthcare services in urban areas, 22 new Chief Minister Sanjeevani Clinics are set to be launched in the coming days. The Health Department has already appointed doctors and paramedical staff for these clinics, with medical personnel now stationed at their respective locations. All 22 clinics are expected to be fully operational by the end of this year.
As reported by itdcindia, the Chief Minister Sanjeevani Clinics, an initiative by the Madhya Pradesh government, aim to bring basic healthcare services closer to residents’ homes and have already shown significant benefits. Legislators, local representatives, district administration, and the municipal corporation have played key roles in setting up these clinics. Legislators helped select suitable sites, while the municipal corporation handled the rapid construction, with the district collector overseeing the progress. These new clinics will offer essential healthcare services.
Public representatives have requested the administration to begin delivering services without waiting for formal inaugurations, allowing gradual openings to help citizens become familiar with the services. The Department of Public Health and Medical Education is continuing efforts to expand urban healthcare through Sanjeevani Clinics, with new clinic buildings constructed in collaboration with the municipal corporation.
In addition to treating common conditions like colds, coughs, and fevers, the clinics will provide prenatal care, family welfare services, vaccinations, adolescent health services, elderly care, pediatric care, diabetes and hypertension management, and screening for infectious diseases. A total of 208 types of medicines and 80 pathology tests will be available for free. On-call specialist doctors will also offer expert care to patients within their neighborhoods.
The first Sanjeevani Clinic in Bhopal district was inaugurated on December 7, 2019, in Priyadarshini Nagar, Ward No. 46. Currently, 46 clinics are operational in Bhopal, having served 452,331 beneficiaries in 2023-24, with over 200,000 people benefiting in 2024-25 so far.
Chief Medical and Health Officer of Bhopal, Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari, confirmed that staff appointments have been made for all 22 new clinics, with most medicines, equipment, and other resources already provided. Additional work is still ongoing at some clinics, which will be completed by year-end.
