A Landmark in Remote Surgery
SS Innovations International, Inc. (OTC: SSII) (“SS Innovations”) has successfully conducted India’s first North-to-South robotic cardiac telesurgery. Using the advanced SSi Mantra 3 Surgical Robotic System, the company connected Gurugram, New Delhi, and Aster CMI Hospital in Bengaluru, covering a remarkable 2,000-kilometer distance with imperceptible latency. This milestone underscores the potential of remote robotic surgery in making advanced healthcare accessible across vast distances.
A Complex Procedure with Breakthrough Precision
A team of expert surgeons performed a robotic-assisted intracardiac telesurgery on a 35-year-old patient, closing a complex Atrial Septal Defect (ASD)—a congenital heart condition characterized by a hole between the two upper chambers. The surgery lasted 2 hours and 40 minutes and was led remotely by Dr. Sudhir Srivastava, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of SS Innovations, from Gurugram. On-site support was provided by Dr. Arul Furtado, Consultant – Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery at Aster CMI Hospital, Bengaluru, and his expert team. The procedure demonstrated unprecedented accuracy and minimal latency, highlighting the efficiency of robotic-assisted remote surgery.
Bridging Gaps in Healthcare with Telesurgery
Dr. Sudhir Srivastava emphasized the transformative impact of telesurgery, stating, “This is a defining moment for surgical care in India. The SSi Mantra 3, designed for India and the world, is eliminating geographical barriers in healthcare. With the approval of CDSCO (Central Drugs Standard Control Organization), we are committed to democratizing robotic surgery by making advanced procedures accessible and affordable.”
Expert Insights on the Future of Robotic Surgery
As per the SS Innovations press release, Dr. Arul Furtado shared his experience, saying, “This was our first robotic intracardiac telesurgery for ASD, and the SSi Mantra 3 proved to be incredibly user-friendly. Its precision and adaptability, being developed by a cardiac surgeon with extensive robotic surgery experience, give it a distinct advantage. We believe robotic telesurgery will redefine access to specialized care, and today’s achievement is just the beginning.”
The Evolution of Telesurgery at SS Innovations
SS Innovations has progressively advanced telesurgery, beginning with a 40-kilometer remote procedure at Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre (RGCIRC) in Delhi from its Gurugram office. The company then expanded its reach with a 286-kilometer telesurgery connecting Gurugram and Manipal Hospital in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Now, the latest milestone has extended robotic-assisted telesurgery over 2,000 kilometers—a testament to the potential of remote surgical care.
A Revolution in Accessible Healthcare
By leveraging real-time expertise through telesurgery and tele-proctoring, SS Innovations is breaking geographical barriers and enhancing surgical precision. These advancements eliminate the need for patient travel, ensuring that even remote locations can access world-class surgical care.
Paving the Way for a Global Impact
This historic achievement marks a new era in India’s healthcare. SS Innovations is leading the charge in revolutionizing surgical care. The company continually refines its robotic technologies. It is dedicated to expanding access to specialized care, improving surgical efficiency, and enhancing patient outcomes across India and beyond.
