Agilus Diagnostics, India’s largest network of pathology laboratories, has announced the successful validation and commercial rollout of the D-DISH (Dual-color Dual-Hapten In Situ Hybridization) test, a major step forward in diagnosing HER2 equivocal breast cancer cases. This innovation promises a faster, more accessible, and technically efficient alternative to conventional testing methods.
High Concordance with FISH and Faster Results
As per the press release, the D-DISH test demonstrated over 98% concordance with the gold-standard FISH (Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization) method during validation, which included 20 positive and 20 negative breast cancer samples. Notably, D-DISH offers a turnaround time (TAT) that is up to two days faster, significantly improving decision-making in time-sensitive clinical settings.
Technical Simplicity and Archival Advantage
D-DISH eliminates the need for fluorescence microscopy, enhancing ease of use. It also supports better sample archival, making it more suitable for routine clinical workflows. Its visual clarity enables pathologists to count gene signals precisely within invasive tumor foci, ensuring greater diagnostic accuracy with minimal inter-observer variability.
Rapid Adoption by Leading Cancer Hospitals
Top cancer centers—including Tata Memorial Hospital, Manipal Hospitals, Cytecare Hospital (Bengaluru), and Apollo Hospital (Chennai)—have already adopted D-DISH as a reflex test for HER2 equivocal cases, reflecting strong clinical demand and confidence in its utility.
Leadership Speaks: A Leap in Diagnostic Excellence
Dr. Anand K., MD & CEO of Agilus Diagnostics, emphasized the significance of the rollout, stating:
“This launch represents a leap in diagnostic efficiency and accessibility. We’re proud to be the first national lab chain in India to introduce D-DISH for HER2 equivocal breast cancer. With its quick turnaround, ease of interpretation, and robustness, D-DISH is a reliable complementary tool to FISH.”
Clinician Endorsements Signal Strong Market Potential
Renowned oncologists from the Fortis network, including Dr. Nitesh Rohatgi, Dr. Niti Raizada, Dr. Boman Dhabar, and Dr. Rajeev Bedi, have highlighted the urgent need for faster and reliable HER2 testing solutions. Their support underscores D-DISH’s growing acceptance among oncologists and its potential to enhance clinical workflows and strengthen diagnostic partnerships nationwide.
A Strong Commitment to Diagnostic Innovation
Dr. Kunal Sharma, Vice President and Head of Integrated Onco-pathology at Agilus Diagnostics, noted:
“D-DISH offers a faster turnaround time and easier archival. It also delivers reproducible results and helps pathologists focus on the most relevant tumor areas.”
Advancing Indian Diagnostics with Global-Standard Solutions
With the introduction of D-DISH, Agilus Diagnostics continues to champion diagnostic innovation in India. The company aims to make high-quality, advanced testing accessible, accurate, and timely for all patients. This rollout reinforces the company’s commitment to transforming cancer diagnostics. It also supports oncologists with precision tools that enhance patient care.
