Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav has called for a collective effort to prevent suicides and strengthen mental health support across the State.
He stressed the need for greater awareness, timely intervention and stronger community support for people facing emotional or psychological distress.
Addressing Mental Health Challenges
Suicides can be linked to several factors, including financial difficulties, family problems and other social pressures. Therefore, improving access to counselling and mental health services remains essential.
As reported by The Hindu, the Health Minister emphasised that suicide prevention requires coordinated efforts from the government, healthcare professionals, families and communities.
Strengthening Support Systems
Early identification of mental health concerns and timely professional support can play an important role in suicide prevention. Reducing stigma around mental health can also encourage people to seek help when they need it.
A stronger and more accessible mental healthcare system can help ensure that people in distress receive appropriate support at the right time.
