Advanced Wound Healing (AWH) Clinics has inaugurated Bharat’s first exclusive Advanced Wound Healing and Limb Salvage Institution in Moosarambagh, Hyderabad. Founded by Dr. K.V.N.N. Santosh Murthy, Chairman of AWH Clinics and State President of the Indian Podiatry Association (Telangana Chapter), the centre focuses on advanced wound care, limb preservation, regenerative medicine, and preventive podiatry.
Former Haryana and Himachal Pradesh Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatreya inaugurated the facility. On the occasion, AWH Clinics also launched “Happy Feet,” a public awareness campaign to promote preventive foot care, early diagnosis, and timely treatment to reduce avoidable amputations.
Addressing India’s Diabetes Burden
The institution provides specialized care for diabetic foot disease, chronic non-healing wounds, burns, traumatic injuries, and other limb-threatening conditions through multidisciplinary treatment and advanced technologies.
India has more than 100 million people living with diabetes, while Telangana has nearly 24.5 lakh diagnosed cases. Nearly one in four people with diabetes develops a foot ulcer during their lifetime. However, up to 85% of diabetes-related lower-limb amputations can be prevented through early screening and specialized limb salvage care.
As per the press release, AWH Clinics has already helped save more than 1,100 limbs over the past three years through its multidisciplinary limb salvage program.
Focus on Limb Preservation
Speaking at the inauguration, Shri Bandaru Dattatreya said AWH Clinics has adopted a patient-centric approach that combines awareness, advanced treatment, and compassionate care to prevent avoidable amputations. He noted that the clinic prioritizes evidence-based limb salvage over amputation whenever possible and suggested that integrating such services with government hospitals could improve access for economically disadvantaged patients.
Dr. K.V.N.N. Santosh Murthy said diabetes-related foot ulcers remain one of the leading causes of avoidable amputations. He noted that Telangana records an estimated toe or limb amputation every five minutes, adding that smoking, stress, and poor blood circulation further increase the risk.
“Our mission is to break this cycle through early intervention, advanced wound care, and limb salvage, preserving not only limbs but also lives and dignity,” he said.
Advanced Treatment and Public Awareness
Dr. Murthy said the centre uses stem cell therapy to improve blood circulation in affected limbs and combines hyperbaric oxygen therapy, specialized nutrition, and customized footwear to accelerate healing. He also emphasized the importance of addressing stress and other underlying factors that worsen diabetes-related complications.
Meanwhile, the Happy Feet campaign encourages regular diabetic foot screening, daily foot care, early medical consultation, and timely intervention to prevent serious complications.
The centre also offers services such as regenerative medicine, PRP therapy, skin grafting, reconstructive procedures, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT), Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (VAC), advanced wound dressings, gait analysis, rehabilitation, and preventive podiatry, making it one of India’s most comprehensive facilities dedicated to advanced wound healing and limb preservation.
