Cytecare Hospitals has launched a dedicated Bone & Joint Health Clinic in Yelahanka, Bengaluru, to provide specialised diagnosis and treatment for musculoskeletal conditions that affect mobility, daily activities and independent living. The clinic aims to address the impact of bone and joint disorders on patients’ everyday lives. These conditions can make routine activities, such as getting up from a chair, walking to nearby stores, climbing stairs or performing tasks at home and work, increasingly difficult. Musculoskeletal disorders affect people across age groups and can restrict mobility, reduce work capacity and limit participation in community life.
Patient-Centric Approach to Bone and Joint Care
The new clinic will provide a dedicated consultation facility for people experiencing bone and joint problems. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, the specialists will assess the underlying condition, physical limitations and individual treatment goals to develop appropriate care plans. Dr. Chetan John Rasquinha, Consultant and Head – Orthopedic Surgery, Cytecare Hospitals, said, “A person who comes in with knee pain may be concerned about climbing the stairs at home or standing long enough to complete a working day. These details matter during assessment. They help us understand how the condition is affecting that individual and what they need from treatment.” Dr. Girish M, Consultant – Orthopedics, Cytecare Hospitals, highlighted the importance of aligning treatment decisions with patients’ daily needs. He said, “Treatment goals should reflect what matters to the patient, whether that is managing personal care independently, returning to work or resuming a familiar activity. The options, expected benefits and limitations need to be discussed clearly, with recovery and follow-up forming part of that conversation.”
Focus on Diagnosis, Treatment and Rehabilitation
The clinic will determine treatment strategies based on the diagnosis, severity of symptoms and their impact on daily functioning. For example, clinical guidelines for osteoarthritis recommend treatment based on symptoms and physical function, with therapeutic exercise serving as a key management strategy. However, when non-surgical treatments prove ineffective or are unsuitable, and symptoms significantly affect quality of life, doctors may consider joint replacement surgery. In addition to medical and surgical interventions, the clinic will emphasise rehabilitation as an integral part of bone and joint care. Rehabilitation aims to improve physical function and help patients return to essential activities, including work, family responsibilities and everyday routines.
Improving Access to Specialised Orthopaedic Care
Jojis Mathew, Centre Head, Cytecare Hospitals, said, “Through the Bone & Joint Health Clinic, we aim to give patients a clearly identified point of access for these concerns within the hospital. The emphasis is on helping them understand their condition, the care options available and the next steps in managing it.” As per the press release, through this initiative, Cytecare Hospitals aims to strengthen access to specialised orthopaedic consultations and support patients in making informed decisions about their bone and joint health.
