Doctor-Led AI Health Monitoring System Debuts in Chennai

In a significant step toward expanding preventive healthcare in southern India, a doctor-led, AI-enabled ecosystem has been launched in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The platform aims to extend medical supervision beyond hospital settings while improving outcomes for patients with chronic conditions.

Focus on Prevention and Early Intervention

The initiative primarily targets the early detection of health risks, thereby preventing chronic conditions from escalating into serious illnesses. Moreover, it seeks to reduce the incidence of sudden cardiac events by enabling continuous monitoring and timely intervention.

How the iLive Connect System Works

At the core of the ecosystem is iLive Connect, which combines a wireless biosensor patch with a wearable wristband. Together, these devices monitor vital parameters such as heart activity and blood pressure in real time.

In addition, experienced doctors track patient data 24/7 from a remote command centre. If the system detects any abnormality, it promptly alerts patients and their families, ensuring swift medical attention.

Strong Clinical Backing at Launch

As reported by The Hindu Business Line, the launch event witnessed participation from several leading clinicians, including Dr Thillai Vallal, Dr MA Raja, Dr Amit Kumar, Dr Prashanth Krishna, and Dr Manoj SivaramaKrishnan. Their presence underscores the growing clinical interest in technology-driven, remote patient monitoring systems.

Expansion Plans Across Southern India

Following its launch in Chennai, the platform plans to expand across other southern states. According to Dr Rahul Chandola, cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon and founder of iLive Connect, this phased rollout will help reach a broader patient population.

Addressing India’s Cardiovascular Burden

India continues to face a significant cardiovascular challenge. Dr Chandola highlighted that nearly 8,000 deaths occur daily due to heart disease, while an estimated 10,000 to 15,000 heart attacks happen each day. Alarmingly, 3,000 to 5,000 of these cases prove fatal, often without prior warning.

Therefore, he noted that traditional symptom-based care is no longer sufficient, especially as cardiac conditions increasingly affect younger and asymptomatic individuals.

Shift Toward Continuous Monitoring

In response, clinicians are adopting continuous monitoring platforms like iLive Connect. These systems enable real-time tracking of physiological parameters and facilitate early identification of potential risks.

Furthermore, monitoring over more than 1,000 patients has demonstrated the platform’s ability to detect subclinical and transient abnormalities that conventional evaluations may miss. As a result, doctors can recognise early signs of cardiac instability and intervene promptly.

One of the platform’s key features is multi-day heart health screening, which is particularly beneficial for asymptomatic individuals. The system continuously monitors patients over five to seven days, capturing real-world physiological data.

Consequently, this approach provides a more comprehensive health profile compared to single-point diagnostic tests. It also helps identify intermittent or stress-induced abnormalities, supporting early risk stratification and preventive care.

Bridging the Post-Discharge Care Gap

Importantly, the technology addresses a critical gap in post-discharge care. Patients remain highly vulnerable during the first two to four weeks after leaving the hospital.

Continuous monitoring during this period enables early detection of deterioration and allows timely clinical intervention. As a result, it can significantly reduce hospital readmissions and improve recovery outcomes.
