Granules India Limited, in partnership with the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), S.A.S. Nagar, inaugurated the Dr. Chigurupati Centre of Excellence in Innovative and Sustainable Pharmaceutical Development (CCE-ISPD). This milestone initiative, established under Granules’ CSR program, seeks to empower students and researchers with advanced facilities that encourage innovation in eco-friendly pharmaceutical manufacturing.

As per the press release, the Centre represents a strategic step in Granules India’s broader vision of embedding sustainability into its core operations. By integrating innovation with green practices, the company aims to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen business resilience, and deliver a positive impact on society and the environment. The Centre will operate under the supervision of Dr. Arvind K. Bansal, Professor, Department of Pharmaceutics, NIPER, who serves as the lead academic supervisor. By combining NIPER’s research expertise with Granules India’s industrial capabilities, the Centre will work on developing scalable, eco-friendly solutions for the pharmaceutical sector.
Key focus areas include:
- Advancing the interface between API and formulation manufacturing
- Reducing carbon footprint in formulation production
- Creating intellectual property in sustainable technologies
- Training the next generation of scientists
- Setting new industry benchmarks in sustainable manufacturing
