Advent International and Blackstone-backed Aster DM Quality Care are reportedly in negotiations to acquire a controlling stake in Yatharth Hospitals and Trauma Care Services, highlighting the growing consolidation in India’s hospital sector. The proposed transaction could significantly strengthen Aster DM Quality Care’s presence in North and Central India, where it currently has limited operations.
Due Diligence Reportedly Nears Completion
According to reports, the potential acquirers have been evaluating Yatharth Hospitals, with due diligence reportedly nearing completion. However, negotiations remain ongoing, and there is no certainty that the transaction will materialise. Yatharth Hospitals has denied that it is engaged in discussions to sell the company, while Blackstone has also denied evaluating such a deal.
A Move to Expand North India Presence
A successful acquisition could help Aster strengthen its footprint in North India and support its broader expansion strategy. The merged Aster DM Quality Care network currently operates around 40 hospitals across 27 cities, supported by nearly 50,000 healthcare professionals. The company aims to expand its bed capacity from approximately 10,800 currently to 15,000 by FY29.
As per the ETHealthworld report, Yatharth Hospitals could offer strategic and operational synergies for Aster, particularly as both companies pursue growth in areas such as oncology, transplants and advanced healthcare services. Yatharth has also been expanding its presence and reported a 51% year-on-year rise in consolidated revenue to ₹392.70 crore in the quarter ended June 2026.
Shares Rise on Acquisition Buzz
Meanwhile, reports of the potential transaction pushed Yatharth Hospitals’ shares higher, with the stock rising more than 5% and reaching a fresh 52-week high. If a controlling stake changes hands, the acquisition could trigger an open offer for an additional 26% stake under takeover regulations.
The development underscores the increasing interest of large hospital chains and private equity investors in India’s expanding healthcare sector. However, with Yatharth and Blackstone denying involvement in a potential deal, the reported transaction remains speculative at this stage.
