Head & Neck Cancer Institute of India Marks National Doctor’s Day with Landmark Initiative to Address Critical Gaps in Cancer Care Access

Free Surgical Oncology Consultations for Economically Weaker Sections

Marking National Doctors’ Day with a commitment that extends beyond clinical care, the Head & Neck Cancer Institute of India (HNCII) has announced free Surgical Oncology consultations for individuals from economically weaker sections of society. The initiative is designed to remove financial barriers that often prevent patients from seeking specialist care at an early stage, enabling them to receive expert guidance and make informed treatment decisions.

Permanent Initiative to Improve Access at HNCII Mumbai

As India’s first and only dedicated institute for Head & Neck Oncology, HNCII remains committed to expanding access to quality cancer care for those who need it most.

Effective July 1, 2026, this service has been introduced as a permanent initiative. Free Surgical Oncology consultations will be available Monday to Friday, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, at HNCII, Mumbai. Eligible patients can consult HNCII’s Surgical Oncology specialists without paying a consultation fee, ensuring that financial constraints do not become a barrier to accessing expert medical advice.

Emphasis on Early Detection and Timely Cancer Care

Healthcare experts emphasize that early detection remains one of the most critical factors in improving cancer outcomes. However, delayed screening, limited awareness, and financial challenges often result in patients seeking medical attention only after the disease has progressed to advanced stages, making treatment more complex. Through this initiative, HNCII aims to encourage earlier specialist consultations among underserved communities, helping patients navigate their treatment journey with greater confidence while improving the likelihood of timely and effective care.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sultan Pradhan, Chairman and Senior Surgical Oncologist, Head & Neck Cancer Institute of India (HNCII), said:

“Doctors’ Day is an opportunity to reaffirm our responsibility towards the communities we serve. At HNCII, we believe that no patient should delay seeking expert medical advice because of financial constraints. Through this permanent initiative, we hope to make specialist Surgical Oncology consultations more accessible to individuals from economically weaker sections and encourage timely evaluation, which is often critical to achieving better treatment outcomes.”
