India has approved its first dengue vaccine, QDENGA (TAK-003), for individuals aged 4 to 60 years. The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) granted approval to Takeda Biopharmaceuticals India’s vaccine, marking an important milestone in the country’s fight against dengue. As per The Hindu, the vaccine is designed to protect against all four dengue virus serotypes and can be given without checking whether a person had a previous dengue infection.
Vaccine Benefits and Use
The vaccine will be administered in two doses given three months apart. Moreover, it aims to reduce the risk of dengue infection and related complications by providing protection against multiple strains of the virus.
