Experts at the first International Ayurveda and Wellness Conclave emphasised that positioning Ayurveda under the distinct ‘Kerala Brand’ is crucial to establishing the state as a global leader in wellness tourism. The two-day conclave, organised by the Ayurveda Promotion Society (APS) in association with the Department of Tourism and allied organisations, began with strong participation from global stakeholders.
Experts Call for Authentic Branding and Scientific Integrity
During a panel discussion on Kerala as a Global Hub of Ayurveda, speakers highlighted the need to preserve Kerala’s authentic Ayurvedic traditions. Dr. T. S. Krishna Kumar stressed that Kerala’s leadership lies in its deep-rooted wisdom and unique diagnostic practices, urging stakeholders to avoid unnecessary scientific dilution. Meanwhile, Dr. Indulal noted that global demand for Ayurveda will grow manifold, requiring Kerala to scale responsibly. Adding to this, Mr. Jose Dominic underlined that consistent service quality without compromising authenticity remains vital in a competitive global market.
Collaboration, Education, and Integration Drive Growth
Furthermore, Dr. Alathiyoor Narayanan Nambi highlighted collaboration between academic institutions and clinical practice as essential for long-term leadership. Parallel sessions on integrating Ayurveda and Yoga into wellness tourism reinforced the importance of holistic offerings aligned with global wellness trends.
Strong Global Participation Strengthens Kerala’s Position
Significantly, the conclave attracted over 125 delegates from 34 countries, with Russia and Germany leading participation. International delegates praised Kerala’s potential as a trusted Ayurveda destination, citing both climate and therapeutic depth as key drivers.
Government Pushes Ayurveda Beyond Tourism
As per the press release, inaugurating the summit, Tourism Minister Shri P. A. Mohamed Riyas called for transforming Ayurveda beyond a tourism product into a research-driven, globally collaborative healthcare system. Tourism Secretary Shri K. Biju and Director Mrs. Sikha Surendran reiterated the need for policy-backed growth, research, and strict standards, while highlighting Kerala’s unique access to medicinal resources from the Western Ghats.

Finally, structured B2B meetings, international ambassador tours across Kerala, and cultural immersion programmes aim to accelerate collaborations and reinforce Kerala’s emergence as the world’s most trusted destination for Ayurveda and holistic wellness tourism.
