Metropolis Healthcare Secures Patent for TB Monitoring and Management System

Metropolis Healthcare, India’s second-largest and one of its most trusted pathology chains, has received a patent from the Patent Office, Government of India, for its invention titled “System and Method for Monitoring and Managing Mycobacterium Species-Related Infections.” This patent marks a significant milestone for the company as it strengthens its scientific innovation portfolio.

A Structured Approach to TB Evaluation

As reported by Express Healthcare, the newly patented method introduces a structured, data-driven framework that supports clinicians in diagnosing and managing tuberculosis and other mycobacterial infections. It brings together microbiology results, molecular diagnostic findings, radiology assessments, and individual patient risk factors. By integrating these diverse insights into a single, algorithm-enabled pathway, the method enhances interpretation and promotes greater consistency—particularly in settings where accuracy is paramount.

Leadership Highlights the Milestone

Commenting on the achievement, Surendran Chemmenkotil, Managing Director, Metropolis Healthcare Limited, said, “This is a proud moment for Metropolis as we receive our first patent, an important milestone that reflects our continued commitment to scientific rigor and purposeful innovation. The method recognized under this patent is intended to enhance TB evaluation and offer clinicians an added layer of support in complex decision pathways. As India advances toward its TB elimination goals, we hope this development contributes meaningfully, especially in communities with high disease burden.”
