The Serum Institute of India (SII), led by Adar Poonawalla, is in advanced discussions with Trivitron Healthcare to expand its investment in MyLab Discovery Solutions. Through a new joint venture, the partners aim to take the Pune-based diagnostics company into international markets and strengthen its presence in the global healthcare technology sector.
This move aligns with the Serum Institute group’s broader strategy to diversify beyond vaccines and build a stronger presence in diagnostics and digital health ecosystems.
Formation of a New Joint Venture
As part of this strategy, the companies have proposed a new entity named MyLab Trivitron Next Gen Technologies. The joint venture forms part of a restructuring process designed to separate existing liabilities and create a cleaner platform for fresh investment and expansion.
By establishing this structure, the partners aim to accelerate innovation, manufacturing, and international distribution of advanced diagnostic technologies.
MyLab’s Rise in the Diagnostics Sector
Founded in 2016, MyLab Discovery Solutions is a Pune-based biotechnology company that gained national recognition during the COVID-19 pandemic. The company developed India’s first indigenous RT-PCR diagnostic test kits, which played a significant role in strengthening the country’s testing capacity.
Since then, MyLab has continued to focus on molecular diagnostics, rapid testing technologies, and advanced healthcare solutions.
Leveraging Trivitron’s Global Reach
As reported by Digital Health News, the proposed partnership is expected to benefit significantly from Trivitron Healthcare’s established global presence and manufacturing capabilities.
Commenting on the collaboration, MyLab founder Hasmukh Rawal said,
“We are structuring the joint venture with Trivitron to unlock better international opportunities in distribution and manufacturing through their global reach and presence, while focusing on MyLab’s high-end technologies.”
Trivitron’s Strong Global Healthcare Portfolio
Headquartered in Chennai, Trivitron Healthcare has built a diversified healthcare technology portfolio that includes imaging systems, in-vitro diagnostics, ICU equipment, and neonatal care solutions.
Furthermore, the company operates across several international markets, including the United States, Europe, and Asia. This extensive network provides strong distribution channels, operational expertise, and manufacturing capabilities, making it an ideal partner for global expansion.
Strengthening MyLab’s Global Competitiveness
Through this collaboration, MyLab aims to strengthen its position in the global diagnostics market. By combining MyLab’s innovation in molecular diagnostics with Trivitron’s scalable manufacturing and international distribution network, the partnership could significantly expand the company’s global footprint.
Deal in Advanced Due Diligence Stage
Currently, the transaction is in the advanced stages of due diligence. Although the final terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed, industry sources indicate that a formal agreement is expected soon.
If finalised, the partnership could mark an important step in positioning MyLab as a competitive global diagnostics player while expanding the Serum Institute group’s footprint beyond vaccines.
