Yashoda Hospitals, Hitec City, hosted the sixth edition of W4C as part of W4C & CRITIC 2026, in collaboration with the Hyderabad Chapter of the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM). The conference brought together leading critical care specialists, medical professionals, researchers and international faculty to explore advances in Critical Care Medicine, emerging technologies and the future of intensive care. With eminent faculty representing 10 countries, the event provided a platform for scientific discussions, knowledge sharing and international academic collaboration. Furthermore, it aimed to strengthen clinical expertise, encourage research and promote evidence-based practices to improve outcomes for critically ill patients.
Scientific Sessions and Workshops Strengthen Critical Care Skills
The conference featured plenary sessions, keynote addresses, panel discussions, specialised workshops, the W4C Oration and Best Paper Awards recognising young researchers. In addition, organisers conducted around 20 specialised workshops across major hospitals in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. These workshops provided hands-on learning opportunities to more than 500 doctors from different parts of India. Overall, the conference was expected to bring together more than 800 medical professionals. Through these academic activities, W4C & CRITIC 2026 encouraged clinicians to exchange practical insights, explore new treatment approaches and strengthen their expertise in managing complex medical conditions.
Emerging Technologies Transform Critical Care Medicine
The conference highlighted the growing role of technology and innovation in modern critical care. Discussions covered several important areas, including intensive care management, organ transplantation, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), extracorporeal therapies, advanced ventilation and point-of-care diagnostics.
These developments play an increasingly important role in managing life-threatening conditions and supporting timely clinical decisions. Moreover, the conference emphasised multidisciplinary collaboration, continuous medical education and evidence-based treatment as essential components of improving patient outcomes.
Over the years, W4C has developed into an important academic platform for nurturing young medical talent and advancing clinical skills, research and innovation in Critical Care Medicine. The 2026 edition further strengthened this focus by bringing national and international experts together to share knowledge and discuss evolving clinical practices.
Strengthening Critical Care Infrastructure and Specialist Training
The conference also highlighted the need to expand critical care infrastructure and specialist training in Telangana. Strengthening intensive care services and developing postgraduate super-speciality training opportunities in Critical Care Medicine can help build a skilled healthcare workforce and improve access to advanced treatment. Consequently, academic platforms such as W4C & CRITIC 2026 play an important role in encouraging professional development, supporting research and preparing clinicians to manage increasingly complex healthcare challenges.
