AI, Insurance to Fuel Growth in India’s Hospital Sector

India’s hospital sector is set for strong growth in FY27, driven by rising health insurance coverage, AI adoption, and expanding healthcare infrastructure. According to Deloitte India’s India Hospital Survey: FY27 Outlook, 60% of hospital CXOs expect the sector to grow by 10–15% over the next year.

Technology to Lead Transformation

Hospitals are increasingly investing in advanced technologies to improve patient care and operational efficiency. Half of the surveyed CXOs believe robotic surgery and AR/VR technologies will have the biggest business impact. Additionally, 83% of hospitals have integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems with their core hospital information systems, while 57% are ready to connect with the government’s National Health Claims Exchange (NHCX). As per Economic Times, this digital transformation is expected to strengthen healthcare delivery across the country.

Capacity Expansion Remains a Priority

Although the private sector accounts for nearly 65% of India’s hospital beds, the country still has only 1.6 beds per 1,000 people, highlighting significant room for expansion, especially in non-metro regions. Moreover, wider insurance penetration, growing demand for organised healthcare, and continued investments from private equity and internal funding are expected to support future growth.
