AIIMS Bibinagar Launches Community Radio Station to Boost Public Health Outreach

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bibinagar, in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, has launched a community radio station at 89.6 FM. With this step, it has become the first AIIMS in the country to establish such a facility. The initiative reflects the institute’s commitment to expanding healthcare access beyond hospital walls.

Extending Healthcare Within a 10-km Radius
The station will serve communities within an approximate 10-kilometre radius around Bibinagar. Through this platform, AIIMS aims to deliver reliable health information directly to households, especially in underserved and rural areas.

Focused Content on Prevention and Awareness
As reported by TOI, the radio station will broadcast a diverse range of programmes, including health awareness campaigns, disease prevention messages, expert discussions, and community updates. Moreover, it will emphasise preventive healthcare, early diagnosis, and the adoption of healthy lifestyle practices, thereby empowering listeners to take charge of their well-being.

Interactive Engagement Through ‘Dial a Doctor’
In addition, the station will introduce interactive segments such as “Dial a Doctor.” This programme will allow listeners to directly connect with medical professionals and seek guidance on their health concerns. As a result, it will create a more responsive and accessible healthcare communication channel.

Encouraging Community Participation
Officials have encouraged residents within the coverage area to tune in regularly. By doing so, they can benefit from accurate, timely, and easy-to-understand medical information, ultimately contributing to better community health outcomes.
